Areas of Specialization
I welcome first-time therapy clients as well as those who have prior experience in counseling - whether in childhood or as an adult. I have a special interest in helping people who might be reluctant to try therapy again after a disappointing or traumatic experiences with a prior therapist. I understand the importance of good boundaries and I do my best to create a safe and professional container for deep personal exploration and self-discovery.
My training and clinical experience include working with depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, relationships issues, and PTSD. Areas of specialization include midlife transitions, chronic illness, death and dying, caregiver support, spirituality, childhood abuse, parenting and fertility issues, sexual concerns, "coming out" as lesbian, gay, and bisexual, and gender identity (trans) issues.
I enjoy working with a wide variety of people from all walks of life. I consider it an honor to be invited into the inner world of my clients and my hope is to provide the kind of support that allows people to feel free to be their most authentic selves.
I have published numerous articles on legal, ethical and clinical issues of interest to psychotherapists and I have worked as an editor on several journals and newsletters. I also train clinicians on how to prepare a Professional Will and plan for continuity of care.
I have had the privilege of teaching and mentoring new therapists and supervising interns in community mental health clinics as well as private practice. As someone who has provided psychological support to others for nearly three decades, I know how important it is for health care professionals and mental health providers to have a place to focus on their own inner lives.

Let me know if you would like to talk by phone or schedule a first consultation.
